Mission Statement

The Emma Helps Ghana Orphans Charity Organization strives to be able to properly house, care for, and educate some of the most desperate and unfortunate children in Africa. We are working towards enabling them to become contributing members of society and leaders of the next generation through education. The purpose of this charity organization is to instill hope in the lives of these children as well as to provide them with the necessary resources so that they are able to reach their fullest potential.

It is the goal of this charity organization to raise enough funding, sponsors, and support to pay for the construction of a proper orphanage and school building as well as to be able to furnish them with the necessary supplies they need in their daily lives. The essential needs of these children include proper and adequate nutrition, medical treatment and care, housing, education, love, security, religious guidance, and an opportunity for a brighter future.

This charity organization was established in June of 2009 by a 15 year old girl who simply wanted to reach out further into the world and to make an impact on the lives of other children. Education is the key to unlocking the gates of poverty and despair. This charity organization is committed to giving them hope for the future.

This charity organization serves the needs of the poor orphaned children in Eguafo and desires to equip them with the skills, knowledge, opportunity and self assertiveness required for them to live independently and successfully in their communities.

Our Commitment

1). To provide the children of Eguafo with a safe & loving sanctuary from the immediate and pressing dangers of life the orphans face.

2). To provide the children of Eguafo with proper housing, adequate and nutritional food, and medical needs in a loving, structured environment on a long term, permanent basis.

3). To provide the children of Eguafo with education (from elementary through secondary school as well as university or trade school) and give them a smooth transition into Ghana's business and social life.

A Message from the Founder, Emma Reid

Dear Faithful Supporters,

It’s hard to believe that so many years have passed since I created my charity. It has been a lot of work and there have been a lot of ups and downs, but my vision and dream has finally become a reality! It is because of all of you, the people who have stood by me and supported me through all this… You have been so instrumental in helping me achieve my goal and there is no way I could have done it without all of you.

I could never begin to express my gratitude to everyone who is so deserving of it because the list just seems endless. There are so many people who I know personally, some who I’ve met solely because of my mission, and those who I have never met. So many people have stood by me and supported me in a variety of ways. Some gave financial donations to me, some with the stipulation that the money was to be given directly to the orphanage, some who donated goods and supplies that I will take to Ghana, the nationally recognized company who named a purse after me, some who donated their time and talents in the many fund raisers I have had, some who donated goods and services for these fund raisers, some who have donated airline miles to me, those who listened to my presentations, those who have spread the word about my charity, and others who have just been there with kind words of support and encouragement. In addition, I also have so much gratitude to send out to all the wonderful television and newspaper reporters in the Buffalo New York area who have devoted so much media coverage about my charity.

Thank you again, so VERY much, to everyone who has played a role in helping my charity, AND making a difference in the lives of the orphans of Sankofa.
